![]() ![]() In four, even though I found such items constantly, I never felt as if they revealed anything. In the previous games, players would find diaries, journal entries, newspaper clippings, and all sorts of pickups that would slowly unravel the mystery and purpose behind the protagonist's journey. The most disheartening of which, and by far one of the worst aspects of the title, is its pacing. As my play experience continued, I took note of many differences between Fatal Frame IV and its predecessors. However, the first hour or so with the game was really the only point where my enjoyment level was at its peak. Everything seemed in place: the sweet young girl lured into a terrifying journey, environments that were wonderfully macabre, and a storyline that promised another great tale. Within the first hour of Fatal Frame IV it seemed clear that the game had stuck true to its roots by immersing the player in a dark twisted world created by some tragic event based on a dark Shinto ritual. Thankfully, a dedicated group of fans have pooled their efforts in order to create a fan translation of the game, affording us English speaking gamers the opportunity to play the title. ![]() ![]() Having spent countless hours with each of the previous iterations it seemed ridiculous that Nintendo would bar an entire group of people from experiencing the game due to small issues, such as a sluggish framerate. Apparently Nintendo refused to bring it over due to some technical errors that Tecmo refused to fix. These, in turn, are derived from the Latin words for moon ( lūna) and calm/tranquil.As a long-time Fatal Frame fan, I was deeply frustrated by Nintendo's decision to not bring the fourth title in the series overseas. Luna Sedata Syndrome (the name for Moonlight Syndrome in the fan translation) is likely a fictional combination of the words "luna" and "sedate".It might also refer to the disease's relation to lunar eclipses. Although no specific translation is pointed out, the name may refer to how patients enter a state of tranquility while viewing the moon. The original name, Getsuyuubyou can be translated as " tranquil moon disease" or " secluded moon disease".Also, after the person gets killed from Blossoming, their ghost would have their faces blurred. They are the only ones who can see their faces looking this way. Patients in this state would see their face blurred when they look at themselves. ![]() It might be the contagious form of the Moonlight Sydrome.īlossoming is the fourth and final stage of Moonlight Syndrome and it is somewhat connected to the failed Rite of Descent. For example: If a patient is "budding"and the patient sees another patient who is "blooming", the patient who is "budding" will start "blooming". In the third stage, when a patient sees the face of a patient in a more severe condition, the symptoms get transferred. They may also begin to start hearing voices or noises that no one else can hear. It starts with their increased paranoia and confusion about what's happening around them. In the second stage, victims of Moonlight Syndrome begin to lose their sanity. It is believed that they do so because they cannot recognize their faces, as if the reflection was showing someone else's face. The patients in this phase tend to be afraid of mirrors, water, or anything that can show their reflection. There are four stages in the Moonlight Syndrome:īudding is the first stage of the Moonlight Syndrome. Moonlight Syndrome is also related to the failed Rite of Descent that caused the happenings of Fatal Frame IV. They lose themselves even more, sleepwalk and sometimes become delirious. When the moon is full, the patient would be calm, but often seek windows or rooftops to be exposed to the moonlight, they say that they feel like they recollect the memories they have lost while bathing in moonlight.Īnd when there is a lunar eclipse, their conditions worsen. The syndrome looks somewhat related to the Moon too, because depending on the phase of the moon, the patients' behavior would change. It shows symptoms such as memory loss, sleepwalking and "Dancing as if possessed" as the disease advances. The disease is incommunicable and does not spread further. Moonlight Syndrome is a condition specific to Rogetsu Isle, and its origins are unknown. ![]()
